A UK multicentre analysis of real world meningioma cohorts: methylation and risk score analysis, management and clinical outcomes
Dr Morag Brothwell, University College London Hospitalsl
When people are diagnosed with meningioma, which is a type of brain tumour, samples from their tumours are sent to a specialised laboratory in London. This lab receives samples from hospitals across the UK and keeps detailed records of the results. For our study, we are gathering important information about each patient’s tumour, including its size, symptoms, the type of surgery performed, any treatments afterwards, and whether the tumour has grown back and needed more treatment. To do this, doctors are asked to fill in a simple spreadsheet with their patients’ details and send it to our team at University College London Hospitals (UCLH). By collecting and analysing this information, we hope to better understand how certain laboratory tests on the tumours can help guide decisions about radiotherapy and predict patient outcomes.
