Identifying patient prognostic biomarkers of glioma connectivity

Dr Hill and Mr Sidpra, University College London

Gliomas, like glioblastoma (GBM) and diffuse midline glioma (DMG), are common yet aggressive brain tumours with no effective cure. Recent research has shown that these tumours connect to and exploit the brain’s normal methods of communication and that these signals can increase tumour growth. In this study, we aim to map and understand the brain circuits that drive glioma progression. Using advanced brain imaging, molecular profiling, and computational analysis, we will integrate information about tumour location, growth patterns, and genetic features. By linking this with knowledge of how tumours interact with brain networks, we hope to identify regions and pathways that are critical for tumour survival and growth. Ultimately, our goal is to uncover biological targets within these tumour–brain connections that could be disrupted with future therapies.
